What is a School Counselor? 

School counselors work with all students, school staff, families and members of the community as a fundamental part of the education program in maximizing student success. Through advocacy, collaboration, and consultation, School Counselors promote school success through a focus on academic achievement, prevention and intervention activities, social/emotional and career development.

What services and programs are we trained to offer?

Academic Achievement

·       Provide academic support including organizational, study and test-taking skills

·       Goal setting and decision making

·       Transition plans

·       Collaboration and consultation with parents, teachers and staff to identify and remove barriers to learning

Personal/Social Development

·       Individual counseling (Short term)

·       Peer relationships, coping strategies and effective social skills

·       Communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution

·       Education on understanding of self, including strengths and weaknesses

·       Issues with anxiety

Career Development

·       High School exploration/awareness

·       College exploration/awareness

·       Career exploration/awareness
